At present, science and technology is given very little coverage in the SA press, and Siemens is concerned to lift the general social level of awareness of the importance of S&T. If S&T issues increasingly affect everyday life, then it is important that members of society are made aware of developments in S&T. Greater awareness results in greater participation in the macro-S&T decisions facing SA. One of the crucial steps in the process of 'consciousness-raising' with regard to S&T is the creation of effective and sustained journalism at University level. |
